Capitol Hill

Named after the state capitol, the history of Capitol Hill is unmatched by any other neighborhood in the City. Referred to as Cap Hill or The Hill, this neighborhood has a distinguished history and diversity and is at the center of 6 major arterials for commercial use.

The architecture of Cap Hill is as unique as its history. The American Denver Four Square was originated here and the neighborhood still features the grandest Mansions. However, it’s Capitol Hill’s historical apartment complexes and high rises that make this neighborhood not only the most densely populated area in Denver but the most interesting.

At one point, the neighborhood was a huge draw for famous artists and writers such as Jack Kerouac and Allan Ginsberg, all of whom lived on Pennsylvania Ave known as “Poets Row.”

Home to the Denver’s punk movement in the 1980s, Cap hill still has a youthful and artistic charm about it.
